2022 Year in Review

Well, that was fun! 2022 is almost done and dusted. It’s gone so fast it’s like we all had the new Sonic the Hedgehog costumes on! We want to look back at the year that was and remember the fun we had, before we’re all caught up in Christmas, New Year, Summer holidays, and the whirlwind of starting 2023…

It’s been the year when lockdowns ended, which has been a welcome return to normal for both kids and adults. We started out with some epic couples costumes for Valentine’s Day and then moved into the cutest Easter bunnies you’ve ever seen!

We had some massive Book Day events this year and we want to thank everyone for bearing with us as we dealt with a huge influx of queries. It was a wonderful celebration of reading for kids of all ages, as well as teachers too. Harry Potter was a huge hit, along with the new arrival of Bad Guys masks.

September brought around Talk Like a Pirate Day – an event that started as a bit of a joke between two mates in Oregon and has become a great reason for a dress-up pub crawl here in New Zealand.

Halloween 2022 was an enormous amount of fun – with everything from the cutest witches to the scariest Demogorgon flying out the door! We had quite a run on our new Inflatable Pennywise lawn ornament, and character candy bowls, which are becoming collector’s items around the world – keep an eye out there's more coming soon!

We’ve had some fantastic new licenses this year too. Gabby’s Dollhouse has been a popular new addition, with cute dresses for 3 to 5-year-olds. This Netflix show, from the creators of Blue’s Clues, inspires the imaginations of pre-schoolers. Part live-action, part animated, with a host of colourful characters (including talking cats!), it’s an adorable show with a positive message in each episode.

The Care Bears range has also been growing and has been a favourite with both kids and adults! Grumpy Bear was definitely the go-to for many mums and dads this year. We’ve also got more Care Bears and other popular 80s licenses coming next year, so watch this space!

If you haven’t got yours sorted yet, there’s a fantastic range of Christmas costumes to help you get into the Christmas spirit. Whether you’re putting on a Nativity play with a school or church group or looking for a Santa suit, Elf, Snowman, or Reindeer, be sure to shop here first!

Remember, costumes make a wonderful present – bringing hours and hours of fun and imaginative play for children. Watching a child transform into a princess, superhero or Wiggle is a great way to bring out confidence and help pass time during the school holidays!

And lastly, don’t forget that a costume party at New Year’s is a fantastic way for adults to send out the old year and ring in the new one.
Whether you're dreaming of a bygone era, of becoming someone superhuman, or wanting to relive your childhood, there's plenty of fun to be had dressing up and letting loose!

We wish all of you a wonderful Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, and Festivus, for however you choose to celebrate this time of year with your family and friends.
Hari Kirihimete!
We can’t wait to see what 2023 will bring!
