Sneak Peek: The Big Events for 2025!
As 2024 comes to a close, we’re super excited to look ahead at what we’re expecting in 2025. Our favourite annual dress-up events, like May the Fourth – Star Wars Day, Armageddon, Book Day, and Halloween will be joined by some massive movies in 2025. From our favourite cute and cuddly bear to a raft of superheroes, Disney characters, and Ozian witches, 2025 is set to be epic!
Paddington in Peru – January 1st (with early screenings in December)
This little brown bear has big shoes to fill after the huge success of Paddington 2! Paddington 3 sees Paddington Bear return to his birthplace of Peru to search for his missing Aunt Lucy. While Paddington was a ‘fish out of water’ as he settled into London, he’s now got to rediscover his wild side as he journeys through the Amazon jungle. We know the stakes will be raised as he ventures out with his adopted family, the Browns, to get Aunt Lucy safely back to the Home for Retired Bears.
Captain America: Brave New World – Feb 13th
Following on from the three Chris Evans Captain America films and incorporating the emergence of Sam Wilson as Captain America from the TV series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, this film sees Sam thrust into an international incident after meeting with President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford). It is up to Sam to uncover the truth before the whole world sees red!
Snow White – March 20th
2025 will be the 87th anniversary of the animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the movie that started the whole stable of Disney animated feature films that we grew up with and that continue to bring joy to kids and adults around the world. It is now getting a live-action remake, set to launch in March 2025. It stars Gal Gadot from Wonder Woman as the Evil Queen, Rachel Zelger as Snow White, and a plethora of CGI animals for the woodland creatures. With Barbie writer and director, Greta Gerwig, as one of the writers we’re keen to see where this film stays faithful to the original and where it changes for a modern audience.
Marvel Thunderbolts – May 1st
Marvel is also releasing Thunderbolts into cinemas on May 1st. We’re expecting a lot of fun from this one, as a group of antiheroes go on dangerous government-sanctioned missions. It brings us the return of Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier, David Harbour as the Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Florence Pugh as the Black Widow. Can these reformed supervillains redeem themselves or are they just cannon-fodder, who won’t take too kindly to be misled?
Lilo & Stitch – May 22nd
We all remember that Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten, thanks to 2002’s Lilo and Stitch. This animated favourite is also getting a live-action makeover with a CGI Stitch. In May we’ll get to return to Hawaii with Lilo and Nani and watch as their lives get turned upside down by the arrival of the cute little alien wrecking ball, Stitch. Originally planned as a streaming release, Disney is now set to release Lilo and Stitch in cinemas, suggesting that they are confident that fans will love it.
Jurassic World Rebirth – July 3rd
Scarlett Johansson is heading this new Jurassic Park movie, which is the 4th in the Jurassic World saga and the 7th overall. It sees Johansson’s character, Zora, seeking out three dinosaurs that hold the key to a life-saving drug for humans. Also keep an eye out for season 3 of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, which should come out in 2025. With season 2 ending on a cliffhanger, we’re super keen to find out what awaits the brave and curious members of The Neblar Six as they navigate life after Camp Cretaceous.
Superman – July 10th
Previously called Superman: Legacy, this new look into the well-known superhero is directed by James Gunn and stars David Corenswet as the man of steel. It is part of the DC Universe’s latest collection, slated as Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The first 2 chapters form an 8-to-10-year plan to explore the DC world and unite the big heroes we all know with some of the DCU’s lesser-known characters. This Superman film features a younger Superman and is set to explore the two sides of Superman – his alien heritage and his human upbringing. While we had hoped for a Henry Cavill-led film, we’re willing to give this version a go when it hits the big screen in July.
Fantastic Four: The First Steps – July 24th
Interest in the Fantastic Four has been renewed through Johnny Storm’s role in Deadpool and Wolverine, as the rights were reacquired by Marvel through the purchase of 21st Century Fox. This new film is set to hit cinemas in July 2025 and stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the title quartet. They will face Galactus, a space god, and the Silver Surfer, his herald.
The Bad Guys 2 – September 18th
Always a favourite with kids for Book Week dress-ups, The Bad Guys 2 is bound to bring a new legion of fans to Aaron Blabey’s The Bad Guys book series. The new movie sees Mr Wolf, Mr Shark, Mr Piranha, Mr Snake and Ms Tarantula struggling with their new life as The Good Guys, and of course, they decide to come out of retirement for one last heist. Be prepared for a new round of hijinks and fun as they bumble their way through!
Wicked Part 2 – November 20th
The other blockbuster movie we’re expecting in 2025 is the conclusion to the Wicked movie. We won’t spoil the first film, in case you haven’t seen it yet, but it tells the story of Elphaba and Glinda, who attended Shiz University together and go on to become the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North in The Wizard of Oz. The soaring Broadway musical has been joined with amazing effects and stunning sets to make this adaptation a true wonder to behold. As fans of the source material, we’re sure that we’ll be smiling, sobbing, and singing when this one comes out!
With new films in the Five Nights at Freddy’s, Avatar, The Conjuring, M3GAN, How to Train Your Dragon and Spongebob universes as well there will be plenty of opportunities for cosplay fun in 2025! And, of course, we’ll always have a huge range of costumes for your Book Week, May the Fourth Star Wars Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas dress-up needs. We look forward to seeing you again in 2025!
